Why would anyone want to use old fashion, grandma
style lye soap?
Simple is sometimes the best when is
comes to being good for your skin. Exotic nut and
plant oils found in some handmade soap bother people
with allergies. Old fashion, country style,
handmade soap was made with ingredients that were
available to rural families. Aunt Pearl couldn't
find coconut oil (which gives soap a fluffy lather) nor
tropical mango butter at the local country store.
All an old time soap maker had was scraps from cooking or
left over grease to make soap with. She, and yes,
many times Grandpa too, would make their own lye
solution from the burning of wood ash and leeching it
thorough large cedar barrels.
While at MoSoap®, we don't make our lye
from scratch for these soaps, we do use the traditional
ingredients to recreate these popular handmade soaps.
Many people find that their skin feel and looks better
after using old fashion lye soap. We make several different types
because everyone remembers a different type.
